My Favorite Band Mayday

  
      Mayday is a Taiwanese band which I have noticed for a long time. There are five people in Mayday, including vocalist A-shin, guitarists Monster and Stone, Bass player Masa, and drummer Ming. They all graduated from the same high school except for Ming; therefore, they have deep-rooted good relationship. In the early period, Mayday was an indie band. It means that they only sang in the pub until they found a Record Company which wanted to support their music career and release their first album “Crazy World”. Mayday is a very special band because it is the first ancestor of “student” band. After Mayday, there are a lot of bands emerging in Taiwan. In the Taiwanese music history, I think that Mayday establish the age of rock band.

The first time to meet Mayday’s music impressed me a lot. In fact, I did not have interests in rock music before even though I knew Mayday was very popular at that time. The turning point happened when I was a junior high school student. One day I did not remember what happened to me. At the moment, suddenly I wanted to ask my friends for some music to appreciate. My friends lent me Mayday’s second album “Viva Love” which was still my favorite album now. After listening to the CD, I found I was deeply moved by the music. The melody of Mayday’s song was always easy-remembered. The lyrics were not only easy to understand but also closed to our daily life. Particularly, the languages of Mayday’s songs are both in Taiwanese and Mandarin. This is the main reason why I love them so much. To my surprise, the composition and lyric-writing were done all by themselves. I believed that they will be very extraordinary in the future. After the moment, I was addicted to notice and support them. Gradually, I became a big fan of Mayday. As time passed, I thought that I was right. Mayday’s goal is to be “Taiwanese Beatles”. They even wrote down their dreams in their song “John Lennon”. In the future, I will still love them. I hope that there will be more and more people supporting them.
